Updating Your NIH Biosketch (Effective Jan 2022)
Overview 
The NIH has changed their Biosketch format as of May 2021 and all Biosketches must conform to the new format by January 2022. This document will describe all of the changes in format, along with reminders of smaller details, organized by section. 
The big changes you should look out for are:
●	Section D is no longer required, and its information has been moved to Section A.
●	Section B has been renamed, and all appointments are in reverse chronological order instead of chronological order.

●	Nothing has changed in this section. 
●	Name is formatted as Last Name, First Name M.I.
Section A: Personal Statement
●	The Personal Statement has not changed. Remember to tailor this to each project you submit a biosketch for. 
●	There is a new section under Section A that includes what Section D previously listed titled “Ongoing and recently completed projects that I would like to highlight include:”. Here, you can list projects that were in Section D that are relevant to the project the biosketch is being submitted for. They can only be from the past three years, and they do not follow the old format. The new format is:

○	The citation style does not matter, but order them by year from oldest to newest. 
○	Highlight your name in the citation. 
○	You can include up to 4 citations. 
Section B: Positions, Scientific Appointments, and Honors
●	The Section B title has changed (Positions and Honors → Positions, Scientific Appointments, and Honors)
●	All lists in this section are now in reverse chronological order (newest to oldest) instead of chronological order (oldest to newest). 
Section C: Contributions to Science
●	You can only have up to 5 contributions to science. 
●	For each contribution, up to 4 published papers can be cited. 
○	Bold your name in each citation. 
Section D: Research Support
●	Section D is no longer required. This information has been moved to Section A as “Ongoing and recently completed projects that I would like to highlight”. 
Other: 
●	This is optional, but you may provide a URL to a full list of your published work. This URL must be to a Federal Government website (a .gov suffix). NIH recommends using My Bibliography.

●	The page limit for a Biosketch is 5 pages.
